Saint Dominic’s Priory School recently commissioned Gavron Engineering to manufacture a scrumming machine for its rugby teams. This project came about as a result of the dedicated efforts of John Hoog (a parent and sponsor of the machine) and Clinton Edwards (school rugby coach).

The school currently has one junior team and one senior team. Although rugby is still in the early stages of development, the senior team has shown great potential this season by winning their first ever game 24-12 against Grey High School on 23 July 2011. The acquisition of the scrumming machine will help improve the school’s rugby forwards’ performance and more good results are expected in the next rugby season.

Handover of the unit to the school officially took place on 18 October 2011 (see photo above). The unit was very well received by the school and all that remains now is to put it to the test!
This proved to be a very interesting project for Gavron Engineering and now that we have successfully built a scrumming machine, we look forward to promoting our ability to offer this product to other interested sporting clubs and schools.
